No Alarms and A Comparison

Dad and Jax watching football last night…

As you all know, Jaxson is a rockstar. He did great last night off oxygen – NO ALARMS! I was so proud of him (and thankful that he let me sleep for 6 hours in a row.) Every time I looked, he was at 100%!

The courier came to get the oxymeter this morning at 8:30 so they could download and read the data. (Just because the alarms did not go off does not mean that he was at perfect levels all night long.) They are checking to make sure the percent of oxygen in his blood is at a healthy and stable level over a long period of time.

I am a bit frustrated today because I can’t seem to find anyone who is “in charge” of this study. I’m having a hard time getting in touch with anyone who knows what’s going on. Like, is he supposed to be back on O2 today? (I haven’t put it back on yet…) How will we know since we don’t have the oxymeter anymore? His Pediatrician says call Respiratory, Respiratory says call the O2 company, O2 company says call Respiratory…I’m kind of getting the run around.

I wish someone would call me back!

I’m not sure what to do next. If I don’t hear from them (someone?) today, I think I’ll keep him on the O2 at least at night over the weekend just to be on the safe side. Since it is 3:00 on a Friday, I do not have high hopes for a call back!

But – I am so happy – we are definitely one step closer to being off the oxygen! Hooray for Little Buddy!

We will still have the “big” sleep study on January 30 where we will spend the night in the hospital. This study will be much more involved and more exact. The purpose of this study is for long term diagnoses and monitoring. As long as he can stay off the oxygen until then, we will be happy campers. It’s soooo much easier to take care of a baby that does not have hoses and tubes and stickers and tanks attached to them!

I’m excited today: I met another preemie mom from Prior Lake! (Gotta love Facebook!) I’m excited to have another family who “gets it” so close by – it will be fun getting to know them!

Let me ask you guys something…do you see any resemblance?

angry-birds-pigHappy Friday!

Oh man, what an adventure! I went into labor unexpectedly when I was 23w3d pregnant. Jaxson was born weighing 1 lb 8 oz. A tiny little peanut, but boy was he feisty. He still is! We love it now, but we probably won't when he is a teenager. I write about our journey and all other things that come with it, including a brain tumor. We look forward to "meeting" you - come hang out with us...we're pretty cool.

  1. Hee-hee, no resemblance whatsoever, except for the fact that neither of them have any TUBES!! 🙂 I hope someone calls you right away tomorrow morning. Enjoy the game today Jaxson – you’re already tougher than all those guys on the field!!!

  2. He is so cute! My husband likes to watch football with Xander too. I always hated weekends at the hospital when you had to wait for someone that only worked m-f to get an answer about something. Or even the clinic now sometimes. Hopefully it goes quickly for you!

  3. Jax, I thought of you so much last night. So glad you made it through with no alarms going off–yes, you are our rockstar. Loved the photo of you and Dad watching football.
