Wow – it’s been a while! Jax has been super busy learning how to reach for toys, roll over (sort of), eat rice cereal, and whisper.
Early Intervention (a program with the school district) came over last week. Our team consists of an Early Childhood teacher and an Occupational Therapist. They come and evaluate Jax to make sure he’s on track for development and to identify any potential problems. It sounds fancy, but basically, they come and play with Jax and see how he does! What a great job to have!
This month’s evaluation showed that Jax is at the 6 – 8 month level for social interaction! He smiled, and flirted, and talked their ears off. They tried to get him to play with toys but he was much more interested in telling them about his day. I think he’s as stir crazy with lock-down as I am! 🙂
He’s tracking at the 3 – 4 month level for everything else including gross motor skills (like sitting and rolling, both of which he is doing with assistance), fine motor skills (like grasping for toys, which is is just figuring out), and language (saying different sounds – we are working on ma ma and da da). This is amazing news because his adjusted age is only 2 months. So, I guess this means he’s advanced for his age. Not that I’m bragging or anything…well, ok, maybe just a little bit!
He’s an independent little guy and he tells us when he’s mad! He laughs little tiny belly laughs when he sees us first thing in the morning. I have a feeling he might be the kind of kid who, once he gets the hang of rolling over, will really start to get around. He loves eating cereal – if I don’t get him a bite fast enough, he starts trying to lick it off his bib (which is hilarious)! 🙂 It’s so amazing watching him learn!
