Party Animal

Well, it’s official, Jax is a party animal! He loved seeing all his friends and family this weekend. He loves looking at people, finding new faces, and smiling at everyone he sees. The only time he cried was when we tried to put him upstairs in a bedroom by himself to nap! He did not like that one bit – it was almost like he didn’t want to miss anything.

Jax got to meet his Great Grandpa Ambrose for the first time. Grandpa is suffering from very severe Alzheimer’s and does not remember much from minute to minute. However, when he saw Jaxson for the first time his eyes lit up and he reached out immediately to hold him. So much love there! Our conversation went like this:

Grandpa: “Is this your kid?”

Me: “Yes. His name is Jaxson. He is almost 8 months old.”

Grandpa: “How old are you?”

Me: “34.”

Grandpa: “Well. Then, you should be 6 months pregnant again by now!”

Oh Grandpa! I love that man…

We also had all of the cousins on my side together for the first time! We have a joke that the kids are from the “Schwolnesterkis” family, which is a combination of all of our last names. Connor, who is the oldest and the only other boy, had the honor of holding Jax for the picture. All the girls were a little jealous, I think, that he got to hold Jax and they didn’t. It was awesome to see them all together!

It was so nice to see so many people! Thank you to everyone who was respectful of our “no touching” policy! And thank you to those of you with colds who called ahead of time to give us a heads up and then stayed on the other side of the house. We really appreciate your help in keeping Jax healthy and safe. So far, so good! No signs of sickness! Hooray!

Oh man, what an adventure! I went into labor unexpectedly when I was 23w3d pregnant. Jaxson was born weighing 1 lb 8 oz. A tiny little peanut, but boy was he feisty. He still is! We love it now, but we probably won't when he is a teenager. I write about our journey and all other things that come with it, including a brain tumor. We look forward to "meeting" you - come hang out with us...we're pretty cool.

Thanks for hanging out with us! Leave us a comment!
