Jax is Kind of a Big Deal

Happy Friday, gang! What do you have planned for the weekend? We’re going to be enjoying some time with our family from South Dakota! Jax is going to hang out with his cousins, Grandma Jan, and Great Aunt Judy while Steve and I go out for some tacos at Teresa’s with Steve’s brother and our sister-in-law. It will be the first time we leave Jax at Grandma’s (or anyone else’s) house. I’m sure everyone (including us?) will do just fine!

We’ve had a great response to the post about walking in the Baby Steps 3K on June 1! We’ve already raised $255.00 and we have 8 people on our team! I realize now, that maybe we should have signed our team up under a different name. Maybe “Big Strides for Little Babies” or “Our NICU Family” or something more inclusive of all the babies who have or will benefit from the Neonatal programs at Childrens Hospitals. Because when you donate to this cause, you are not only supporting Jax, you’re also supporting thousands of other babies and families who need you. But…I can’t change the team name now, so we’ll all remember that Team Jaxson’s Journey walks proud for ALL!

Well, as we all know, Jax is “kind of a big deal.” Proof of that happened on my Facebook page yesterday when we posted the most hilarious photo of Jax to date and it “went viral.” Did you know that Jax has his own Facebook page? (The page is called Friends and Family of Steve and Andrea Mullenmeister – it’s a long story, but the page was started by our friends when Jax was born as a way for everyone to stay updated. Now, it’s morphed into a page where we show off how cute Jax is…) Go ahead and “like” it – you’ll be surprised with all kinds of pictures and videos of our little buddy. I usually try to post something extra there each week and we’d love to have you!

Oh man, what an adventure! I went into labor unexpectedly when I was 23w3d pregnant. Jaxson was born weighing 1 lb 8 oz. A tiny little peanut, but boy was he feisty. He still is! We love it now, but we probably won't when he is a teenager. I write about our journey and all other things that come with it, including a brain tumor.
