This is prematurity. This is fear and stress and worry and guilt and sadness. This is what alone feels like.

This is prematurity. This is happiness and love and laughter and learning. This is what hope feels like.
Today is World Prematurity Day. It’s a day to celebrate and honor babies who are born too soon.
It’s also a way to raise awareness. Before Jax was born, I had no idea what prematurity really was. I had no risk factors, my pregnancy was healthy and normal, I took great care of myself…but it still happened to me. Why? Until we have more answers, we don’t know who will be next!
Over the next few weeks, I’ll be posting more stories from my preemie mom friends. (You can read our story and Michele’s story now…) I hope that by sharing our stories, we can help spread the word about the seriousness of preterm labor and birth, put a face to the often abstract idea of prematurity, and help other families who are facing a preterm birth and NICU stay keep hope.
Because hope is a very powerful thing…
And the love for the good in each and every child continues. God bless Baby Jax. What ever did the world do without him?
