Does Jax Like Sledding? (Life Through the Eyes of a Child)

There are no seven wonders of the world in the eyes of a child. There are seven million.” ― Walt Streightiff

My favorite thing about having a child is the constant reminder that life is cool. The world is filled with wonders that, as a stressed-out, anxiety-ridden mom, I often miss. Jax reminds me every day that joy and curiosity can rule our days and make us happier, smarter, and calmer.

Yesterday was one of those days where I tossed worry out the window and really looked at life through Jax’s eyes.

We went for a walk outside where Jax stopped under every tree and said WOW! He saw the branches, he heard the birds, he smelled the wood, he was in complete awe of every.single.tree.

Then we decided to go downhill sledding for the first time! At first Jax wasn’t too sure that sledding was a smart choice (NO me, NO me, No me!) but after a few seconds, his fears we dissolved by a huge belly laugh and a look of pure exhilaration. See for yourself in this video…

Jax can teach us all a few things about life, huh?

Oh man, what an adventure! I went into labor unexpectedly when I was 23w3d pregnant. Jaxson was born weighing 1 lb 8 oz. A tiny little peanut, but boy was he feisty. He still is! We love it now, but we probably won't when he is a teenager. I write about our journey and all other things that come with it, including a brain tumor. We look forward to "meeting" you - come hang out with us...we're pretty cool.

  1. The innocence of a child and the simplicity of what their very special needs can bring to all of us. If the entire world looked at things this way, it would be a better place. How blessed are those of us who get to witness this and look at things through the eyes of a child….a very special child.
