“On Saturday, He Eat Pwums”

Jaxson’s favorite story is The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. He requests it every night before bed and sometimes we read it three or four times.

It’s special to me that he enjoys this story. I read it to him often while he was in the NICU. The story of transformation from tiny caterpillar to a beautiful butterfly seems fitting for Jaxson’s journey.

If you haven’t read the book yet, it’s about a tiny caterpillar who eats a different food each day of the week. He eats apples, pears, plums, oranges, and other treats. Until, one day he’s not hungry anymore. He builds a cocoon around himself and finally emerges as a beautiful butterfly.

3 Plums

Last week, I captured this gem on video. It’s funny because Jaxson has never had a plum before, so I have no idea why that fruit stuck in his mind. Also, it’s the first time he has ever mentioned a day of the week. My little reader DOES pay attention! 😉 Enjoy!

Oh man, what an adventure! I went into labor unexpectedly when I was 23w3d pregnant. Jaxson was born weighing 1 lb 8 oz. A tiny little peanut, but boy was he feisty. He still is! We love it now, but we probably won't when he is a teenager. I write about our journey and all other things that come with it, including a brain tumor. We look forward to "meeting" you - come hang out with us...we're pretty cool.
