Home Again

We made it! After five nights at the hospital, Jax got to come home yesterday.

We’re both exhausted.

He wants to play with all of his toys and so far has taken every.single.toy out of his toy box. He’s too tired still to do much, though, so he’ll play for about five minutes and say “I’m definitely not tired, mom. But maybe we should watch a movie now so I can breathe…” I’m glad he’s learning how to recognize when he needs a break, but it hurts my heart, too.

When we got home, I noticed my Mother’s Day flowers were wilted and faded. I only got to enjoy them for one day before Jax was admitted. I think that’s one of the most jarring things about extended hospital stays: life just goes on, whether we’re there for it or not.

Jax is still sick, so we’re in the Red Zone of his Asthma Action Plan. I’m thankful he’s well enough to not need oxygen support anymore. It’s much easier being at home!

Oh man, what an adventure! I went into labor unexpectedly when I was 23w3d pregnant. Jaxson was born weighing 1 lb 8 oz. A tiny little peanut, but boy was he feisty. He still is! We love it now, but we probably won't when he is a teenager. I write about our journey and all other things that come with it, including a brain tumor. We look forward to "meeting" you - come hang out with us...we're pretty cool.
