Norwex – An Early Start

I wasn’t always a germ freak.

But, when the very first thing I had to learn before I could see my newborn baby was how to do a proper 3-minute scrub in, it kind of sunk in how important cleanliness was for Jax’s health.

From that moment forward, I washed my hands or used hand sanitizer every single time I touched Jax. If I turned away from his isolette for a second and thought that I might have touched my face or the wall, I washed my hands. If I touched one of the plastic tubes that was keeping Jax alive, I washed my hands. I estimate that I washed my hands or used sanitizer at least 200 times a day – no joke.

So, when we were getting our house ready for Jax, our main priority was germs and how to remove them from our home.

Our friends got us a True HEPA air filter, which was a big deal. It helps remove viruses and germs from the air. Awesome.

But what about the surfaces in our house? We didn’t want to use harsh chemicals because we were concerned that the toxic fumes would exacerbate Jax’s Chronic Lung Disease.

My friends knew this and surprised me with a gift of Norwex products. At first, I wasn’t sure what this big deal was…and then I learned more about how and why they work.

Norwex microfiber cleaning cloths use embedded strands of silver to help remove bacteria from surfaces. The silver has natural antibacterial properties, so there is no need for harsh chemicals. Strands of silver are actually sewn into the cloth, so the silver will never wash off, unlike the “antibacterial” mircofiber cloths that you get at the store.

So, where am I going with all of this? Well, Norwex saved my germaphobe sanity! I know those of you with kiddos with respiratory issues and low immunity to germs will be able to relate. We still wash our hands regularly (all the time) with soap and use hand sanitizer alot. But lock-down is a little less scary knowing that I am doing everything I can to give Jax a safe, clean home.

Now, the only cleaning products I use in our home are Norwex products. (Well, we still have toilet bowl cleaner – I just can’t bring myself to do the toilet without the blue goo!)
