Hope Surrounding Postpartum Anxiety and PTSD

Last month our local newspaper reached out to me after they read my article on the Huffington Post about birth trauma and PTSD / anxiety. They wanted to do a feature story! That was exciting, but I couldn’t imagine how they would be able to write an interesting feature story solely about our journey.

I suggested a panel interview / round table discussion to allow for different perspectives. I knew from my discussions with other parents in the MN Preemie Parents private Facebook group that other moms were struggling with anxiety and PTSD following their traumatic birth experience. I had no idea how many women would feel inspired to share their story – over 20 people expressed interest in being a part of the article!

The newspaper could only accept stories from our local area, so many of the women did not get a chance to share their story. I want to change that! I’ll be working with other women throughout the coming months to give them a platform to share their stories of hope and healing after a traumatic birth. I’m hoping to gather everyone’s stories in a book of which the profits will go to provide support for women dealing with postpartum PTSD and anxiety.

Together, we can heal. Together, we can give hope.
