Eye’m Not Going to Lie – It’s A Little Scary

Remember a couple of weeks ago when Jax had his eye appointment with his pediatric ophthalmologist? The doctor was slightly concerned about Jax’s left pupil and drooping eye lid. Doc asked us to send pictures of Jax from each month of his life so he could see if the problem has been present since birth or not. The pictures were going to tell the doctor if Jax should come back for a follow-up in two months or in six months.

Well, how does next Thursday sound?

Scary? Yeah – me, too.

The doctor saw some evidence in the pictures that he did not like. He wants to see Jax next week.

Jax says “don’t worry, Mommy!” (But if you look closely, you can see the difference in the size of his pupils. Sorry buddy – I’m worried!)

I’m not sure what this means. If anything, hopefully it’s just a false alarm and we are sent on our merry way. (Better safe, than sorry!)

I do know that Jax is going to get some special drops (similar to dilating drops, I think) so the doctor can look at his eye in a different way using different tools. Depending on what he sees, Jax may have to have an MRI to check for nerve damage. Jax would have to go under anesthesia for the MRI.

So, I’ll keep you updated. I hate this part…waiting! I’m going to worry myself silly until next Thursday. If you have a few minutes, do you think you could send some calming, healing thoughts our way? Also, let’s all keep our fingers and toes crossed that it turns out to be nothing, ok?

And on a more positive note, Happy New Year!
